The 2nd Generation Mercedes SLK was introduced in 2004. The 2nd Generation Mercedes SLK is a front engine rear wheel drive compact luxury roadster that was introduced to slot in below the more premium and expensive Mercedes SL. The SLK is Mercedes’s attempt at creating a small, fast and light sports car. The 2ndGeneration SLK is available in 5 versions SLK 200 Kompressor, SLK 300 SLK350 and SLK 55AMG. The Mercedes SLK 2nd Generation lasted in production for seven years and it was halted in 2011. The price of the Mercedes SLK 2nd Generation was not competitive when compared to other models in the same class available in the local market.  

The 2nd Generation Mercedes SLK features a distinctive design language. The front end houses sleek narrow trapezium upswept headlights, a small grille with quad intakes, and standard circular fog lights. The rear end houses angular trapezium styled side swept taillights and dual sports exhaust tips. The SLK 55 AMG features a slightly more aggressive and sporty design language. The front end houses a larger front bumper with larger air intakes and a front splitter. The rear end houses a lip spoiler, a sports exhaust system, and a rear diffuser. All other variants of the Mercedes SLK feature identical styling in every aspect. The interior of the 2nd Generation Mercedes SLK features a familiar Mercedes design language. Standard features include 8-way heated power seats with memory and air-scarf functions, 4-way power steering column, an 8-speaker surround sound system, heated power side mirrors with power fold-in, climate control, and cruise control. Options and features on the higher end versions include a choice between different wood trim paneling, illuminated door sills, dashtop analog clock, cell phone, headlight cleaning system, lane keeping assist, , all-season floor mats, battery trickle charger, adaptive cruise control, satellite navigation, automatic 2-zone climate control, parking sensors and a leather/wood steering wheel. The overall interior of the 2nd Generation Mercedes SLK features a decent amount of interior space for a sports car of its exterior dimensions.
