Nissan GT-R Overview

The Nissan GT-R also known Nissan GTR or simply "gtr", is a high-performance vehicle produced by Nissan since 2007. It features a 2+2 seating configuration and is recognized as both a sports car and a grand tourer. The car is equipped with a front-mid-mounted engine and all-wheel drive.

The GT-R replaced the Nissan Skyline GT-R but is no longer part of the Skyline series. It is built on the PM platform, which is derived from the FM platform used for the Skyline and Nissan Z models. The vehicle is manufactured at Nissan's Tochigi plant in Japan.

Nissan revived the GT-R name to develop a world-class sports car. Development commenced in 2000 and spanned seven years. Concept models were unveiled in 2001 and 2005, but the final version was officially introduced at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show.

The GT-R is primarily sold in North America, Japan, and a select number of other markets.

Nissan GT-R Specifications

The Nissan GT-R is available in four variants: Premium AWD, Skyline Edition AWD, T-spec AWD, and NISMO AWD. The 2024 Nissan GT-R features a robust 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that produces 565 horsepower and 467 pound-feet of torque. It is equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, effectively transferring power to the road. The GT-R can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds.

Its quick steering, muscular build, and adjustable suspension make it easy to drive at high speeds, even for beginners. If you desire more power, the Track Edition and NISMO models deliver 600 horsepower and 481 pound-feet of torque (652 Nm). Some enthusiasts claim that the NISMO actually produces more than 600 horsepower; however, Nissan may have reported a lower figure to comply with specific regulations in Japan.

The ride is firm yet comfortable, and active sound cancellation ensures that the cabin remains quiet during highway drives, preventing the engine noise from becoming too loud.

Nissan GT-R Interior

The GT-R's front seats are spacious and comfortable, while the rear seats are best suited for small children. All trims come with an 8-way adjustable driver's seat.

The interior is well-equipped with numerous standard features, although it does not rival the luxury found in vehicles such as the Audi R8 or Mercedes-AMG GT. All models include dual-zone climate control, leather and suede upholstery, heated front seats, and additional amenities. However, storage space is somewhat limited, offering only large door pockets and a small center console bin for your belongings.

Infotainment

Every GT-R comes with an 8-inch touchscreen, which can also be controlled using a rotary knob on the center console. Standard features include Apple CarPlay, built-in navigation, and a Bose 11-speaker audio system. However, Android Auto is not available.

Furthermore, the infotainment system is simple to use, though its graphics and menus are a bit outdated. There's also a customizable data display that shows useful metrics like coolant and oil temperatures, g-forces, boost pressure, and other engine details.

Nissan GT-R Exterior

The Nissan GT-R has a bold and sporty look that captures consumers' attention. Its front features a large grille and sharp LED headlights, which give it an aggressive appearance. The hood has sleek lines and side vents that not only look cool but also improve airflow and help keep the engine cool.

The design is focused on performance, with features that reduce drag and increase stability. At the back, it has the signature quad taillights, a functional spoiler, and large exhaust outlets.

The GT-R comprises lightweight and strong 20-inch RAYS® forged-alloy wheels paired with high-performance tyres for better grip and handling. The NISMO® model adds exclusive black wheels and carbon-fiber parts like the hood, roof, and spoiler, which make it lighter and more race-ready.

Advanced LED lights, including sharp headlights and bright taillights, improve visibility and safety. The GT-R is also available in unique colors like Millennium Jade and Midnight Purple in the T-spec® model, which allows drivers to show off their personal style.

Nissan GT-R Safety Features

The Nissan GT-R comes with several safety features to protect both the driver and passengers. It includes six airbags: front, side-impact, and side-curtain airbags for all-around protection in a crash.

The car has front and rear parking sensors and a RearView Monitor to help when parking. The Vehicle Dynamic Control system keeps the car stable by adjusting power and braking when needed. It also has Traction Control, which helps prevent wheel spin on slippery roads.

The GT-R has an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), and Hill Start Assist.

It does not lack advanced features like blind-spot monitoring or lane departure warnings. However, the GT-R includes essential systems to keep drivers safe and in control.
