Toyota Aqua (also know as Prius C) was first launched in 2011 and went on to become the most successful nameplate in Japan. Its first-generation was showcased in the Tokyo Motor Show in 2011 and it later received a facelift in 2014. Another facelift was revealed in 2017 under the name of Aqua Crossover.

 

The second-generation Toyota Aqua (Prius C) rolled out in 2021 with 4 variants - B, X, G, and Z.

Toyota Aqua Exterior

The new Toyota Aqua has a sporty look and reflects the title aqua through its flowy design language. The front of the car houses a chrome grille which gives it a sleek look. The chrome grille is accompanied by LED headlamps and LED fog lamps. 

 

The sides of the Prius C are adorned with auto-retractable mirrors and 16-inch alloy rims. The rear of the car sports LED taillamps. A purposeful spoiler is accompanied by an intermittent rear window wiper. The overall look of the car is appealing and pleasing to the eye.

Toyota Aqua Interior

The interior of the Toyota Aqua is comfortable and welcoming. The car has seats wrapped in high-grade fabric. The seats are adjustable with the driver and front passenger seats being recline, fore/aft adjustable and the driver seat having cushion adjustment. The rear seats support the 60/40 split feature to increase boot space. 

 

The Toyota Aqua comes with a push start/stop button and some of the latest features. The 4-spoke steering wheel supports tilt and telescopic adjustments and comes with steering switches with access to climate control, Bluetooth, and audio controls. The synthetic leather 4.2-inch digital TFT multi-information display panel has been shifted towards the center of the dashboard which gives it a sleek and modern look.

 

The center fascia houses the 6.1-inch touch panel display that supports navigation, radio, Bluetooth connectivity, and a wireless audio system. A 6-speaker audio system provides a fine listening experience within the Aqua. 

 

Prius C also comes with automatic air conditioning with the climate control feature, cabin air filter, and rear heat ducts. Other features include power door locks, power windows, a rearview camera, and a smart key system that supports driver door handle touch

lock/unlock sensor.

 

The new Toyota Aqua also comes with two driving modes - EV mode and ECO mode.

Toyota Aqua Safety

The new Toyota Aqua comes with several modern safety features such as Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA) & Smart Stop Technology (SST). 

 

It also comes with SRS airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system, cruise control, a Vehicle Proximity Notification System, and indicators for low washer fluid, door ajar, driver & front passenger seatbelt warning and key remind warning.

Toyota Aqua Engine

The Toyota Aqua is equipped with a 1.5 Litre, 4-Cylinder, DOHC, 16-Valve engine coupled with a Sealed Nickel-Metal Hydride HV battery. The hybrid car comes with an electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission.

The handling of the Toyota Aqua is easy. The car is easy to drive even for beginners and allows maximum control to the driver. The performance of the car is outstanding due to its hybrid engine as it provides swift response even at high speeds. The car does not show any kind of body roll and taking sharp turns at high acceleration is also easy.

 

The suspension of the Aqua is good but given its low body frame, it requires some care while driving over bumps on the road. Overall, the Toyota Aqua is suitable for daily commute as well as for long trips.
